Please explain the difference between silver and sterling silver.
Silver is a precious metal and like gold, is too fine to make jewelry at 100%. In order to be workable, silver is alloyed with copper. Sterling Silver is silver with a fineness of 925 parts per thousand or ( 92.5% ) silver and 75 parts per thousand (7.5%0) copper. Sterling Silver is stamped with .925 and is the standard for high quality silver jewelry. All jewelry sold by Village Silver is .925 Sterling Silver. We do not carry any silver-plated items.
